Jōdō (杖道:じょうどう), meaning “the way of the jō“, is a Japanese martial art using a short staff called jō. The art is similar to bōjutsu, and is strongly focused upon defense against the Japanese sword. The jō is a short staff, usually about 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 m) long.
The study of Jodo improves self awareness, self discipline, balance, posture and spatial awareness.
JoDo Auckland prides itself on its welcoming and friendly approach to training, and operates an open-door policy, all welcome, all ages.
